[162/365] California Philharmonic Performance, "America The Beautiful, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Downtown, Los Angeles, California, USA

I've taken so many photos of the Walt Disney Concert Hall from the outside, but this time, I finally got to experience the actual hall as it was designed for - a musical show! The interior is a wooden masterpiece, arranged in such a way that sound is optimized for everyone in the hall. Victor Verner was the conductor and he incorporated audience participation (clapping) and funny anecdotes to liven up the show. We also got a special guest performance from Brian McKnight!

[161/365] Pot of Milk Tea, Royal/T, Culver City, California, USA

Royal/T is a cute cafe located in Culver City off Washington Boulevard. It was a scene out of a cafe in Japan!

[160/365] Celebrating John R. Wooden's Life, Pauley Pavilion, UCLA, Los Angeles, California, USA

John R. Wooden's memorial was a touching celebration of the great life he lived. Appropriately taking place in Pauley Pavilion, on the Nell and John Wooden Court, several past players, chancellors, coaches came out to speak about their interaction with him. What an amazing life he lived!

"Make each day your masterpiece." -John R. Wooden

[159/365] Sean & Alice's Wedding, Firefly, South Pasadena, California, USA

Sean and Alice's wedding was beautiful! The theme was a lovely combination of green and brown. Flower centerpieces in the middle, along with dimly lit candles and a silky soft green table cloth made up the decor.

[158/365] Sean & Alice, Pasadena, California, USA

Congratulations to Sean & Alice! Their wedding today was beautiful!

This was one of the photos I took of them on an engagement photo session at Pasadena City Hall.

[157/365] Boca Football Stadium, El Caminito, Buenos Aires, Argentina

I know how much Argentina loves their soccer (better known as football)! The Boca Football Stadium was just a couple of blocks away from the El Caminito area and it was painted in bright blues and yellows. I wish I got to go to a game while I was there!

I will admit I don't know too much about the teams in the World Cup (although I've been learning a lot recently), but I chose Argentina to go pretty far on my bracket. So much fun following the World Cup! There's so much passion and excitement from fans and players.

(Go USA!)

[156/365] Birthday Sombrero, Houston, Texas, USA

Summer is officially here! I wanted to find a summery photo, but couldn't find anything. Just wish it wasn't so gloomy here though!

This was a birthday sombrero at a Tex-Mex restaurant in Houston that we went to for Yi-Jiun's birthday. I've missed several days of these daily photos...was out of town for the weekend and didn't really take too many (that I'd post on here =P).

Have a lovely day!

[155/365] Leaves on a Hammock, Los Angeles, California, USA

Summer lovin'. Summer is just around the corner (this coming Monday) and I'm so ready. Travel plans have finally been set for a couple weeks from now!

Wish it was Friday already! I will be out of town for the weekend, soaking in the rays. Something about this photo makes me think of summer nights, relaxing outside under the night sky...

[154/365] Blue & Yellow Balloon Bouquet, UCLA Graduation, Los Angeles, California, USA

Graduation season is an annual reminder of the years that have passed since my own graduation. Makes me a little nervous actually...

This was a huge bouquet of balloons in none other that the UCLA blue & yellow colors. What a colorful bunch!

Congratulations on your graduation, class of 2010!

[153/365] Jill's Graduation, UCLA, Los Angeles, California, USA

Congratulations to my roommate, Jill, on her graduation with a Ph.D. from UCLA! Yay!! :)

[152/365] Game of Connect 4, Picnic, Van Nuys, California, USA

Connect 4 is a game of strategy and intensity - can't you see it in this girl's eyes? This was one of my favorite childhood games! It was a popular activity at the games station at the picnic!

[151/365] View from the Hike, Malibu, California, USA

This is a photo from a recent hike. Didn't quite make it that far, but from where we got to, great views of the surrounding mountains! Enjoy your weekend!

[150/365] Blue & Yellow Balloons, Picnic, Los Angeles, California, USA

I'll always love the blue & yellow color combination. It's nice to be able to make the color theme decisions!

[149/365] Little Girl, Potato Sack Race, Picnic, Van Nuys, California, USA

We had a potato sack race and this little girl looked SO adorable with her hair flying all over the place, hopping towards the finish line!

[148/365] Games Sign, Picnic, Woodley Park, Van Nuys, California, USA

I love that these are the types of things that I work on for my job! At our picnic, we had signs for the different stations, including games, arts & crafts, registration and food & drinks. I used my trusty Cricut to cut out letters and we taped that onto a blue painted board along with foam sports stickers, and sealed it with clear contact paper. Art projects at work - fun!

[147/365] Woodley Park, Van Nuys, California, USA

On Saturday morning, I woke up before the sun had even risen. It just doesn't seem right to be waking up that early, on a weekend nonetheless. Needed to reserve a spot at Woodley Park in Van Nuys for an event for work for kids in the community - this is what it looked like when I arrived there at 6am. It was tiring, but worth it to see the kids having fun!

[146/365] Street Art, Los Angeles, California, USA

This photo is of one the buildings I passed by in Downtown LA, adorned with vibrant colors over a black canvas.

[145/365] R.I.P. Coach John Wooden, Wooden Classic, Anaheim, California, USA

John Wooden (1910-2010) was an inspiring teacher, coach, family man, and the list goes on. Not only did he achieve success in the game of basketball, but he was an all around "wizard" in all else. There's a reason they call him the Wizard of Westwood.

For the past couple years, I've attended the Wooden Classic in Anaheim where Wooden watched on as the Bruins played and came down to center court to present the award to the winning teams (usually UCLA). A standing ovation is always in line for when he makes an appearance because he is such a revered man. Not only this, but he's made numerous appearances at UCLA basketball games at Pauley Pavilion, as the Bruins played on the Nell and John Wooden Court.

I love reading his quotes because they are inspiring and great words to live my life by. Sure he coached at my alma mater, bringing UCLA to basketball dominance decades ago, but what stands out to me most is what I've learned and heard in years past about how he lived his life. When I found out today that he passed away, I was saddened, but comforted by the amazing 99 years of life that he lived and the reunion with his wife of 53 years, Nell, whom he still wrote love letters to for years and years after her death.

Thanks, Coach. You've truly been an inspiration to me.

Some of my favorite Wooden quotes:
"There is no substitute for hard work. If you're looking for the easy way, if you're looking for the trick, you might get by for a while, but you will not be developing the talents that lie within you. There is simply no substitute for work."
"Be quick, but don't hurry."
"Ability may get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there."
"You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you."

[144/365] Pink Flowers, Malibu, California, USA

Took this photo on a semi-hike in Malibu (it was too hot to continue or get very far for that matter). It was a winding road up the the Santa Monica mountains to get to the trail head...too bad it was just too hot! Brings me a feeling of whimsicality...

:) Happy Friday! It's going to be a busy work day and weekend. No real weekend for me this time around. Excited for Monday...never thought I'd say that!

[143/365] Indoor Miniature Golf, The Putting Edge, Los Angeles, California, USA

A few weeks ago, I went to an indoor miniature golf course for my friend's birthday. Felt nice to get to feel like a kid again, even though by the 10th hole or so (of 18), I was losing focus and desire to attain the hole in one (or even to make it in the hole at all). Anyway, it was a cool place to take a picture of the over-the-top light-up decor!

[142/365] Celebrity Sighting, Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan, Malibu, California, USA

One of the few beaches that allows dogs in LA is the Leo Carrillo Beach in Malibu. It was too hot for the hike we wanted to do, so we ended up at the beach - what a great choice. I guess this was typical LA celebrity sighting - Channing Tatum and his wife (also from Step Up) were at the beach with their dogs on a towel by us. I happened to have my camera because I was taking pictures of the beach and so I snapped one of them as they were walking around. TMZ anyone?!

[141/365] Designer Spotlight: ( oh, hello friend. ), Filigree Camera Ring, Los Angeles, California, USA

oh, hello, friend.
you are loved.

The first time I saw the design of ( oh, hello friend. ) was at the Renegade Craft Fair in LA last year. I bought some lovely earrings and a necklace at the fair and have been following the blog ever since. I stopped by her etsy shop last week and found this beautiful ring, with a camera charm on it. How perfect. I love everything about the design of the jewelry, jewelry box, paper bag, website, typography... It inspires me to design.

goodbye
friend.
