So, I think I was in food and drinks heaven! Or at least that's what it felt like for those few hours. Maybe I was just excited at the thought of free food AND free drinks, that everything seemed great. Decadence is an annual event that takes place at the Anaheim Garden Walk area. Cocktail attire is strictly enforced. Restaurants from throughout Orange County present tastings of everything from grilled shrimp, barbecue sauce meatballs, steak tacos, chicken skewers to kobe sliders. I was so full, even from just trying small portions of everything. In addition, there were performances and a DJ as well. This photo is of the decorations in the main quad area.

For the past couple years, I've attended the Wooden Classic in Anaheim where Wooden watched on as the Bruins played and came down to center court to present the award to the winning teams (usually UCLA). A standing ovation is always in line for when he makes an appearance because he is such a revered man. Not only this, but he's made numerous appearances at UCLA basketball games at Pauley Pavilion, as the Bruins played on the Nell and John Wooden Court.
I love reading his quotes because they are inspiring and great words to live my life by. Sure he coached at my alma mater, bringing UCLA to basketball dominance decades ago, but what stands out to me most is what I've learned and heard in years past about how he lived his life. When I found out today that he passed away, I was saddened, but comforted by the amazing 99 years of life that he lived and the reunion with his wife of 53 years, Nell, whom he still wrote love letters to for years and years after her death.
Thanks, Coach. You've truly been an inspiration to me.
Some of my favorite Wooden quotes:
"There is no substitute for hard work. If you're looking for the easy way, if you're looking for the trick, you might get by for a while, but you will not be developing the talents that lie within you. There is simply no substitute for work."
"Be quick, but don't hurry."
"Ability may get you to the top, but it takes character to keep you there."
"You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you."

Learn. Create. Buy. This is the motto for this year's Craft Super Show.
I love arts & crafts and when I found out about the Craft Super Show in Anaheim, I just had to go! This is the first year that this event, sponsored by the Craft and Hobby Association, was open to the public for two initial days. It's a heaven for those who scrapbook, stamp, design and create - rows and rows of booths from crafters from all over. I mean, its sponsored by 2 of the biggest craft stores I go to, Michael's and Joann's. I was just bound to enjoy it! Bought some things to create personalized cards with stamps and embossing. Yes, there are people that enjoy doing these things, and no, they don't have to be old ladies (example: me). This is a photo of one of those wooden stands that you can put your face in and take a picture - only for this one, I opted to show other attendees at the fair.

Crowded as it was, Christmas time is a great time to be at Disneyland! We were greeted with surprisingly warm weather, but the sky high Christmas tree, castle covered in icicles and holiday parade made up for the lack of winter weather! This was at the parade - local cheerleaders did a routine to Christmas music before the Disney characters started coming out.

Soarin' Over California is officially one of my favorite rides in the Disney Theme Parks! For those that haven't been on it, its a simulator attraction in California Adventure, that flies you through beautiful and familiar sceneries throughout California. Not only that, they add a dimension of smell so that you can become familiar with scents to some of the locations. Over crashing waves, through Downtown LA by night, above the majestic Golden Gate Bridge, down snow-covered mountains full of skiers, its an impressive array of California beauty. Felt so real! This was a photo inside while we were waiting in line.

It was after 10pm and after a long day, we were preparing to leave Disneyland. Before we did, we decided on one last ride - It's a Small World. Sitting down for a slow-moving ride is always a nice treat after my feet were sore from the non-stop moving around throughout the day. Decorations from all around the world, holiday-themed, with children singing christmas carols was all intricately designed to promote peace around the world at a child's point of view. This was one of the displays towards the end of our ride.

'Twas a long day park hopping between Disneyland and California Adventure! Arriving not too long after they opened, and leaving shortly before they closed, we sure were exhausted. I had a lot of fun though! Of course, enjoyed taking photos of everything too. This is King Triton's Carousel in California Adventure - wonderful by night! This is the ride before it began. Will post a photo of the ride in motion shortly after!

Nestled within the Disney Resort, right next to Disneyland, is Disney's California Adventure! I went here, not expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. It's California themed, so there are rides and shows relating to everything from Hollywood to the Golden Gate Bridge to the Paradise Pier (modeled after beach boardwalks such as Santa Monica and Santa Cruz). As the sun set, the rollercoasters and ferris wheel cast wonderful reflections into the water along the beach boardwalk. I felt like a kid again as I rode the Toy Story Midway Mania (my favorite ride there!). Fun times!
