[80/365] A Splash of Color on a Gray Day, Montevideo, Uruguay
Summer in the United States means it is Winter in the Southern Hemisphere. Two summers ago, I was traveling in South America. We were in Argentina for most of the time, but we had a few days to take a short trip to Uruguay, just a ferry ride away from Buenos Aires. We stayed in the quaint town of Colonia del Sacramento, but we were able to take a EARLY morning bus for a day trip to Montevideo. Boy was it COLD there! We went to a famous theater and outside were these ladies - they just make me think that it was sunny out, even though it was freezing. They definitely put a smile on my face! :)A gray day can always brighten up with a splash of color!

Loved the quaint town of Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay! This pedestrian street is known as the Street of Sighs, and the origin of it's name has many variations involving love, death, romance, mystery and secrets. The foggy day added to the mystery of this street. There was a art gallery along this street with beautiful paintings. A short ferry ride from Argentina, this town along the coast was a great stop on our adventures.
Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay
Crossing the Rio de la Plata from Buenos Aires, Argentina to the small country of Uruguay landed us in the quaint town of Colonia del Sacramento. It was a charming little city with very friendly people. When we were there, the cobblestoned streets were empty with few locals and tourists strolling around. The town was very peaceful and the views along the water were beautiful. Great place to just sit and relax! This photo is of an abandoned building structure with a lone motorcycle parked right in front. The owner of the motorcycle was nowhere to be seen.
