Wedding Cake, AnThu & Manh's Wedding, Saigon, Vietnam

Wedding cake at the wedding! The venue was really nice.

AnThu & Manh's Wedding, Saigon, Vietnam

I attended AnThu and Manh's wedding while I was in Vietnam. This was one of the photos from the photo shoot prior to the reception. I did not take this picture. Someone had my camera while I was doing some other things. Long day, but fun and beautiful wedding! Congratulations!

Sunrise in Nha Trang, Nha Trang, Vietnam

A short 1 hour flight northeast of Saigon brought us to the beach city of Nha Trang. The second night we were there I could not sleep after we got back late, so I watched as the sun was rising just outside our hotel room. What a beautiful view at 5am!

Swimming in the Waters of Nha Trang, Nha Trang, Vietnam

Swimming in the waters of the Nha Trang beach - so nice and relaxing! The sun was setting and appaarently, this is when everyone goes to the beach to swim. Used my handy underwater camera case to get this picture with our hotel in the distance. Fun times for AnThu's bachelorette party in Nha Trang!

Motorbikes & Traffic, Saigon, Vietnam

What an adventure it has been! Finally blogging again. It's been a while! Asia has been so much fun. Hot and humid, but somehow when I come back with pictures everyday, I forget how hot and sweaty I was. My trip started in Vietnam. Saigon is a really busy city - things going on all the time. And the motorbikes - wow. I think I'd never be able to ride one of those things especially in traffic. As we headed to the airport to head to Nha Trang, the rain caused more of a traffic jam than usual!

Boulevard at Sunset, Saigon, Vietnam

The busy streets of Saigon are filled with speeding motorbikes and cars and each time we tried to cross the street, we walked/ran in fear. The sun was setting and the sky turned a fiery orange-yellow color. This was a wide boulevard that we crossed as we returned to our hotel. Each time I have visited Vietnam, Saigon has rapidly changed from the previous time and the city is always bustling with activity at all times of the day.

Ha Long Bay, Vietnam

Surrounding ancient legend of dragons coming to defend the local people, this bay in Northern Vietnam is most famous for its nearly 2,000 limestone monoliths that tower over the water. They are covered in green vegetation and add to the legends that define this area. Many of these islands have been given names, mainly associated with animals that they seem to represent. These particular islands shown in the photo are called the "kissing rocks" or "fighting cocks", depending on how you want to interpret it. The day was lovely and the water was relaxing. We all climbed down the ladder and jumped into the water as our boat was anchored in the middle of the bay. We were able to swim around in the warm water and come back up to the boat to dry off and proceed to have a fresh seafood meal!

Hoi An, Vietnam

Vietnam is hot and humid, especially during the summer and this day was no exception. We went to the ancient town of Hoi An. They are known for their experienced tailors and knowing this, we had coats made for cold days back home. The city is lined with stores selling all types of crafts and items and also tailor shops. This photo is of the river in Hoi An that provided great reflections!
